Buffalo Springs 70.3

Finish Strong Racing’s W. Dale Claudel raced Buffalo Springs 70.3 on Sunday, June 26 and qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Australia! Woo hoo! Here are Dale’s splits:

Dale Claudel's results at Buffalo Springs 70.3 2016

Dale reports, “It shows that I came in 7th in my AG but I actually placed 6th. I was able to secure a slot to the IM70.3 WC in Australia on Sept 4th which was my primary goal this year. We had great conditions for the race based upon what has typically been the case for this tri. However, it was still hot, very windy (tough cross winds with no terrain to block them), and the canyons made the bike very tough. I did better than targeted on the swim and bike but paid for it on the run. In any event, I was thrilled to qualify for the 70.3 WC!”

Ironman 70.3 Coeur-d-Alene

Congrats to Finish Strong Racing’s Alberto Agostini who raced Ironman 70.3 Coeur D’Alene, Idaho on Sunday, June 26. His overall time was 6:15:24. Alberto reports, “Weather was very good, max temperature about 80 and humidity very low. It was a legal wetsuit swimming with clear water, the ride was very challenging with a lot of hills and 3 times climbing more than 500ft. The running was curvy, not totally flat but manageable and with a lot of supporters along the road. Finally, for those that had never visited Coeur D’Alene I strongly recommend to go, it is a beautiful town, people is very friendly and the views are breathtaking.”

Ironman Texas 70.3 – Galveston

Team Finish Strong had a good showing with 23 athletes completing the 2016 Ironman Texas 70.3 race held in Galveston on Sunday, April 10. The 1.2-mile saltwater swim began at Moody Gardens’ protected Offats Bayou with favorable conditions. The 56-mile bike followed with a flat but windy (and gusty) out and back course along the Gulf Coast. The final 13.1 run wound around Moody Gardens. The training paid off as many FSC athletes enjoyed PRs and several completed their first half Ironman distance race. Congrats to all for getting it done!
